quote of the day: Charlotte Thorstvedt
just what i needed: the cars 1978
the cars, the strokes, pulp and of course mister jarvis cocker
nice cover of the cars “just what i needed” by jarvis cocker and julian casablancas of the strokes, who seems to be porkin’ up. i guess rock stars should not be allowed to get fat, unless they’re elvis. oh, and… lets lay off the curse words people, it makes you all look like eight year olds. jarvis on the other hand, elegantly rules. by ar
Ruschmeyer’s: montauk
not a hamptons or even montauk kind of person but i was there a few weeks ago on a beautiful and breezy night and wanted to post this but never got around to it. a friend took us there and although i didn’t stay the night at the hotel, the dinning in the back with the lanterns in the trees and the indian tipi tent, was quite a magical treat. the crowd was pretty good considering the hamptons (and sorry i do bunch them all together). there were some degenerate manhattanites in there but not enough to ruin your night. all in all it was great evening and the casualness of montauk along with good service and food of manhattan did make ruschmeyers a must visit if you happen to trek it out there. by uh

Ian Wallace gives us a hint
some new work by vancouver based artist ian wallace (honestly, i had no idea he was a vancouverite, but then again, i didn’t know his work before either even though i shouldn’t admit it since he schooled the likes of jeff wall and rodney graham) at hauser & wirth. that through the minimalist bend, he fragments ‘windows’ between art industry and art imagery. calm, sleek and mysterious. by kl
