well not that i’m that impressed, considering the mayans kicked ass on that front. but dd you may appreciate this although they look like toys next to yours. by xy
beautiful sculptural piece by architect peter eisenman in memorial of the holocaust in berlin. i wish i had done this. whether you are a norwegian conservative racist, of not, you must be awed by this piece of work. simply epic… as it should be, and in my opinion eisenman’s finest, just wish i could say the same about the many over-rated eisenman buildings. by dd

just back from paris and really enjoyed my stay at this little hotel which was originally owned by the hermes family. l’hotel particulier montmartre is a secluded and peaceful little hotel in montmartre designed by morgane rousseau, just off the beautiful rue junot. it feels more like a country house than a hotel, the amenities are minimal, no restaurant, minibar, etc. (at least at the time I stayed, but we are told there is now), but if you are used to living in the city, it’s great to be able to come home at the end of the day and have cocktails in its quiet garden. they also serve a lovely breakfast. the hotel is accessed via a passageway off of rue junot, just a couple doors down from a house adolph loos built for tristan tzara, and if i’m not mistaken there is a robert mallet stevens house on the same street. a five minute walk up the street leads you to tourist crazy sacre coeur, but the area around the hotel is quiet and residential and the streets are lined with beautiful homes. highly recommended. by kc
i was really glad last week when i saw thames&hudson re-released the book on the glass house by photographer francois halard. seeing the pile reducing seriously everytime i was passing by mcnally jackson (which by the way is the best place to get books and mag in the city) made me wonder if the fact that the new york times made a great article about the house recently was the reason or just general interest. now i’m crossing my fingers that they will also re-release the book on the villa malaparte by mr halard as well… by pp.
its so crazy to see this as i just bought an old book on prouve! i never thought he was that popular to be introduced along with some clothing brand? the fashion house, g star raw, is teaming up with vitra to re-imagine several iconic pieces from the prouvé’s archive for the new prouvé raw line. as much as i hate to see prouvé be marketed this way i must say the stuff looks amazing, and in g star has helped reintroduce his work then it cant be that bad after all. i want ’em all. by dd
