japanese artist tokujin yoshioka’s exhibit crystallize is now on display at the museum of contemporary art in tokyo. a retrospection of the artist’s use of prisms, differences in opacity and the formation of crystals as an inspiration for all lifeforms. the above photos are of yoshioka’s rainbow church, a twelve meter structure containing over 500 crystal prisms that collocate the effects of inside and outside. by sv
had seen these on last trip to paris, beautifully covered skulls using various feathers the patterns seem out of this world. you realize how each feather had to be figured out using the patterns and light and dark to create depth and shadow. quite nice if you can live with a skull sitting next to your bed. the artist’s clodette skull piece; currently on display at the bizarro in the saint germain exhibition in paris, through october 30th. by dd
