Kale Teter: Do we have a winner?
months ago NARS cosmetics launched a contest online for the best makeup talent to match a look. the site www.makeupyourmind.com got flooded with millions of hits from across the world by pros and non pros. one of our friends took the challenge so we kept up with her, egging her on. but the irony of it all is that at the end, kale teter, a boy, appears to be the real winner based on our assessment of his total votes, and he rocked it too. based on the rules of the game if he indeed wins, he will get a trip to new york with a friend, with hotel car and meals included and not only receive a lick-able NARS make up set, but also get to go backstage during fashion week and hang with the cream on top. not bad for a boy from texas… girls we are disappointed with the “all of youz”… the world is obviously ruled by men, once again. NARS is supposed to release the winners soon so keep an eye all you people. site idea, design and production by new york luxury agency ceft and company. by cm
cindy sherman, just being herself… for mac
looks like MAC is veering off the pretty-glam-path with talk of an upcoming partnership with gareth pugh, and also in a collaboration with their new covergirl, cindy sherman (you should know who cindy sherman is by now, garath too for that matter) who, for the limited-edition collection has taken MAC’s motto of ‘power of transformation’ for her own interpretation by creating one of her signature characters per color story. interesting. i love cindy, and am sure this is not meant to sell, but to reinforce that MAC is not afraid to play. and neither should we. by kl
murderous lips: dansk læber
kl i’m warning you here not to be inspired by this at your lame job… i was criticized the other day by pp and kl for posting nonsense… now here is some “beautiful” nonsense that i’ve been hanging on to for the right post… “with some sense” that is… but it just ain’t coming. now tell me this isn’t amazing? by danish photographer rasmus mogensen. by dd
Annie Morton: heads and tails
model annie morton photographed by juergen teller bit over plucked on the eyebrows but fabulous otherwise. if i’m not completely off here, i think this is part of the series that juergen took when he was married to / or with the incredible stylist venetia scott and thanks to her encouragement he photographed his castings just straight on. i have the book somewhere buried under others and its too late to double check so don’t quote me on that. by dd

chanel 001 travel kit with lipgloss: approved by the TSA**
for the record this piece is not created by karl but rather, ted noten. the chanel001 is a gun loaded with accoutrements, including chanel lip gloss, an antique hairpin, a 18k gold toothpick, a perfume bottle with an 18k gold mechanism, a 50-gram 24kt gold bar, a USB stick, and a viagra pill. in short, all the stuff a girl wouldn’t leave home without. chanel 001 will be on view at design miami/basel, which kicks off next week, through the ornamentum gallery (hall 5, booth g23), from june 15–19. ** the TSA approved comment was a joke. dont even think about traveling with this. by ar

how to become a narsissist: the new interactive website with the same name as the book, where you can follow instructions and upload your picture for a chance to win 1 of 12 prizes
ok as always we are a bit behind schedule, recovery has its own perils… last tuesday nars cosmetics held their launch event at cedar lake in nyc to celebrate the launch of the book “makeup your mind: express yourself” (good thing there is no tax on word count) and its corresponding social media website makeupyourmind.com. the event was done as expected of nars, fully polished, and star studded with francois celebrity friends. everyone from the cheerful and talented simon doonan, to carol alt, elise overland, and anna sui turned up for a drink and a quick makeover. i ran into the lovely gender bender model andrej pejic who was charming and tall as usual. he looked rather flat next to amanda. the drinks were colorful and cold, i had a couple of champagnes, and eyed the under-lite trays of yellow tale sashimi’s swimming by. the event was from 7-10 followed by an after party which i wasn’t invited to. i dashed out at around 8:30 to make room for the ever flowing fans, as the party must go on… the instructional book “makeup your mind: express yourself” finally available was beautifully design by baron & baron and the website which contains the instructions “makeup your mind” was designed and produced by ceft and company new york by xy
