le voyage dans la lune

AIR, the unyielding and tremendous french duo have created an ode to the the georges méliès classic film, “le voyage dans la lune.”  after years of work and rekindling, the fully restored and colorized 15-minute film will be shown along with “the extraordinary voyage,” a fascinating one-hour documentary about the restoration of the film with the AIR album as its soundtrack.  i was fortunate enough to see this wonder at lincoln center this week. it is terribly sad to think that méliès created such brilliance in a short time and then saw it all crumble before his eyes; however, his presence shall forever be lucid in the eyes of cinema.  by sv

tap-dance crazy: coco rocha commercial during oscars a nod to “the artist”?

not so sure about how this is related to “the artist”, but coco c’est génial… apparently she had only one day of rehearsal and rocked it on the table like it was nobody’s business… not even bérénice bejo’s… surprising match up of coco with WHBM. love the tap idea, chic, and fun… so what’s next for coco? a duet? the commercial with coco for white house black market was filmed by swedish director johan renck, through the agency ceft and company in new york, with music by our friend donald cumming of the virgins. you can see the behind the scenes on youtube here. by kv
