Qui êtes vous Polly Maggoo?

nothing new, but one of the many william klein films with his wife peggy moffit.  i met him over lunch and have worked with him for many many years.  he is and has been an inspiration and not to mention a lovely person. saw this clip and it made me want to share it. by uh

For Pina Bausch: with love, Wim Wenders

is it dance? is it art? is it life? is it a dream? whatever it is, it’s the first 3d movie/film i’ve anticipated the arrival of. too many performances missed at BAM. finally, a bridge away from inconvenient early evening viewing times and to ‘the masses’. is this the sort of democracy we want? all we can do is wait… and see. ps.props to poppy.  by kl

ballerina: a film by bertrand normand

bertrand normand ballerina

another beautiful film, this one on the russian mariinsky theater (kirov) by filmmaker bertrand normand. both films are worth a watch for anyone remotely interested in the observation of man as a being… i always said if the aliens come here one day, they’ll learn more about “man” in observing the french gardens and ballet rather than silicone valley or nasa. i think herzog would agree with me on that. by dd

social distortion: short film premiere

so cal rock and roll veterans social distortion recently released a music video for the song “machine gun blues” from their new album “hard times and nursery rhymes“. this isn’t just a music video, it is a short film based on a fictional bank robbery in la circa 1934. i think it’s great to see such a core band putting themselves out there by making more than just your ordinary watch-the-band-play music video. it’s a nice production that tells a story.   by jr

NIKE BE FREE: BY barnaby roper & tristen bechet

here is another one by the dynamic duo barnaby roper and tristen bechet (services),  for nike. this, to our understanding, was one of the very first times the duo worked together. the film was commissioned by nike and creative directed and produced through the new york agency ceft and company. it made the top 10 list at number 3 on “fashion film network top 10 fashion films” losing the top-spot to non other than our very favorite lady…. gaga’s: “born this way” filmed by nick knight. the photographs associated to the film were taken by french art photographers denis darzacq. the best part is that the entire series were presented as 2 ipad apps allowing interactive features. keeping an eye out for barnaby’s next great thing. by xy

jammin’ with sam the sham

a little egyptian touch from sam the sham and the pharaohs. the lyrics were so hard to understand that some radio stations banned the song. that’s the attitude, if you don’t understand something, ban it… just in case! by bn
