bill willis – marrakesh

bumped into this extremely interesting article about the late marrakshi legend, decorator bill willis.
it’s in the new york times ( of course) and very well written by christopher petkanas for his column called “fabulous dead people”… how witty is that?
i could certainly tell you about mister willis but you should really read the article instead.
just to lure you a bit, mister willis lived the morocco of the 70’s around mister saint laurent, the stones, the getty’s and so on. he’s truly one of those larger than life character.
strange enough it’s rather difficult to find anything about the man on the net… so images are the same than nyt.
there should be a lot of documentation about his work in the great ivan terestchenko’s book about ysl and berge’s estates (pictures above are ysl’s marrakesh home) but i’m not sure which one can be credited to willis and which one can be credited to grange. by pp.

dan tobin smith – perspectival studies

well… i don’t know exactly what it is, but i am intrigued by the name perpsectival study and its author the still life photographer dan tobin smith (and the name of the retoucher but i guess nobody care about that). the bookshelves in the background remind me of the great bernard pivot’s literary tv show “apostrophes”… it’s an insider reference for french people. anyway, i think it is really nice and that definitely deserve a post. by pp.

riccardo tisci – a magazine – curated by

came across this nice issue of the wonderful “a magazine”. the guest editor in chief was givenchy’s riccardo tisci and the aesthetic is a little dark but the overall piece is really beautiful. feels really refreshing to have a magazine that is not $50, not filled with crap ads and totally editorial free… that was released some years ago so there is very little chance to buy it anywhere but that is not the only purpose of things, right? by pp’

fabien baron – summer house in sweden

recently came over few pics of mister baron’s summer house in sweden in recently released taschen’s “interiors now”. i was struck by those images, wondering if someone really lives like that? i mean having a pristine house is something everyone dreams about. but then living in one is something else…
in the actual book is a picture i couldn’t find for this post where you see the living room of the house that features the only object out… the balenciaga book designed by baron himself… by pp’
