eye candy
starck+intersection magazine
saw the starck+intersection mag concept car in the window of colette last night. that is a really nice piece actually. maybe starck should stick to this kind of project since not far away from there is another one of his production, the hotel meurice and believe me, the soap car is definitely on top! by pp’
RICHARDSON MAGAZINE IS BACK!
no, this magazine is not from the richardson you think it is, that being said that’s true there is some similarities and the main richardson used to shoot a lot for this publication but the man behind this magazine is andrew richardson. dodgy man himself but none the less one of the best stylist in the industry. the issue number 4 is out, something like five years after the third one. welcome back naughty one! by pp’

jean charles de castelbajac – angels
i always had a certain kind of admiration for designer jean charles de castelbajac. not that i am especially fond of the clothes he did, but the man himself is definitely a great one. while in paris for few days, i’m always surprised and amused to see one of the angels he draws on wall using chalk. i heard he did it for years and it’s usually around the most beautiful places, like a blink. by pp’
carlo mollino – plaroids
this story is as nice as the pictures. when designer carlo mollino died, his executors found in a wall of his studio, few thousands polaroids of mostly naked girls (i only show very decent ones here otherwise mister google or kl won’t be happy, but feel free to check further, petits cochons…). he started to take those pictures in the 60’s and did it until he died. the models were random turin’s women. there is a charming aspect in the fact he did it for himself, not thinking it would ever be displayed. most of the time, pics were staged in his apartment against backdrops and around furnitures he had design. and when checking actual images of the place, you can recognize the tiles or curtains from the polaroids, nice! by pp’
screamin jay hawkins: what a busy man!
on the wiki page for singer screamin jay hawkins, under his obituary one can read :
busy indeed! let’s remember him not for over populating this earth but rather for his amazing performance of the coolest version of “i put a spell on you” 😉 by pp’

roma “citta aperta” x christian from phoenix
was checking the Phoenix diary the other day and i saw this old post by christian. he was basically saying he went to one of those small theater in paris for a screening of rosselini’s roma, citta aperta, and was alone in the room, so i guess he had fun… well i think the images are really nice. worth sharing. by pp’
hollywood bowl
never heard about this place before yesterday but i’ve been instantly fascinated by the hollywood bowl. after checking a bit on the net, i found out it was built in 1929 and it’s having a seat capacity of 17,376. sounds amazing. i love the retro/shell look of the stage.
so, ok i know it’s not looking as good as it used to on the pictures attached but it’s a real piece of great america. would love to see something there (not from the back row though 🙂 by pp’
ed ruscha is burning
still a fan of ed ruscha’s artwork and very little reason that will change. so no need good reason to post some ed’s. of course the first one is well known but the second and third ones are a bit less known. putting the three together sounds relevant. the dates are respectivly 1963, 1966, 1968. ed is on fire! by pp’
arthur rimbaud
this is a picture that was widely talk about in europe in the last few weeks but never heard of or read a line on it on this side of the atlantic. well, the story is pretty nice, until very recently there were very few known photos of poet arthur rimbaud. basically, only one real, from when he was a late teen (see attached) and four others on his death bed but they are so dark and out of focus that it’s almost abstract… whatever, two parisian booksellers found a picture and had an intuition when the checked the dating and place where the shot was taken. after verification, double checking with biographers and all sorts of people, it seems it is then the second real picture of arthur rimbaud… nice. makes me wonder how many shots of rimbaud or people alike are sleeping in some people’s drawers. the photo, dated to the 1880ies, shows arthur rimbaud surrounded by seven people on the terrace of the hotel univers in Aden, Yemen. by pp’
