generic man: naval white canvas shoes

in a world of brands it pays to be a generic man. shoes from the generic man, naval white canvas with lusciously soft leather interior, and the casual summer in indigo blue, with white leather laces. zero branding on the outside and detailed craftsmanship make these just that much more special. designed by ex generic costume designer kevin carney. check out the website or his store which we wrote about earlier in silver lake los angeles: mohawk shop general store. by dd

the art of smoking – fantastic man

smoking… too bad it’s so bad.

probably one of the best men fashion story ever in probably one of the best men fashion magazine ever. “the art of smoking” in a old issue of “the fantastic man”. by the way, i found this on nolayout, which is such a cool website. some editors of independent magazines, scan their babies and put it on the net… there is this dirty thing about the scanning business that feels like it’s from the 90’s, love it! by pp.

Y So Lost?

can anyone tell which is the tasty dior homme of the slimane era, and which is the new ysl men’s campaign? i’m confused… however beautiful, looks like these brands need to look up. by kl

mister tom ford in french playboy

ok the man is cool we got that. confirmation by photographer mathias vriens. too bad the french edition of playboy as we knew it is gone. i guess another example of how good/better work doesn’t necessarily make much money or sell… at least not to truck drivers that is. by dd

best made axes – lumbers in tha city

i guess anyone walking to partners and spade, saturday surf shop or any trendy store in the city wondered what the hell is that about to sell axes?!? and i guess i’m not the only one fed up by half the population in nyc fucking around in lumber jack outfits while they never set a foot in any forest but anyway… those axes are really gorgeous. even if i wouldn’t harm a tree for anything in the world, i could really imagine one of these beauty in the corner of my living room. that would be a bit yuppi-ish, aint it? so just for eyes by pp.

man about town – gem magazine

bought the magazine man about town (sorry couldn’t find a website to link to) yesterday after everyone told me about it, and i have to say that is one of the nicest piece of stack printed paper i’ve seen in a long time.  it’s beautifully designed by the great french guys at “atelier franck durand” and it is put together by ex-numero philippe utz. only great articles, genius contributors, killer look, daring interviews, nice printing… is that enough?
feel like a bowl of fresh air in the sea of sameness that is the fashion mag business.
even the fashion stories are great, which is really difficult for men.  on top of that, cocorico, this numero is about… paris! lovely! dd, let me tell you that you will die for this mag. by pp’
