to have and have another

now although the cover leaves something to be desired, i am hoping the content makes up for it in this case.  a companion discussing the works of hemingway, and what drinks to pair when reading various novels, stories and anecdotes.  this is a perfect gift for any hemingway fan or alcohol enthusiast.  if you are looking to get me a gift this holiday season, i will take this and a nice bottle of scotch.  cheers! by sv

Vivienne Westwood: Still Contrary

granted, i’d rather have julian’s handsome face on the shirt rather than vivienne’s, but then the idea wouldn’t have worked, would it?

“I support julian assange because he’s clever and brave and the founder of wikileaks – a brilliant organization in the public interest to expose the facts concealed and misinformation published by the authorities for their own protection. therefore the authorities wish to punish him; they’re out to get him at all costs. wikileaks has had 90% of all donations blocked by visa, mastercard, western union, paypal, amazon and bank of america, so all profits from the sale of this t-shirt will go directly to them.” – vivienne westwood

way to go… $75 at the vivienne westwood online. by xy

Mon petit ami: Bonnie and Clyde guns up for auction

bonnie and clyde’s guns are finally up for sale. for the life of me, i can’t find out how such personal property as bonnie’s make up bag has made it to an auction, and who is actually pocketing the funds off of the death of the notorious gangsters. that being said, parker’s colt detective special .38 revolver and clyde barrow’s 1911 army colt .45 pistol, are the two that will steal the show. both of which have estimated $150,000 to $300,000 (£93,000 to £185,000) price tags.

retired history professor ER milner says it is clear why the couple is still so intriguing. “americans and, i think, most people love a lover… and here were these young people in the midst of the worst depression in the history of the world striking a blow for what they thought was right – and loving one another. it was almost a shakespearean tragedy on a dusty road in louisiana.” well that is especially true today of bank robbers since we have lost all our sympathy for any poor old bank. the irony of it all is that the guns will probably be purchased by some banker after all. by dd

Dieter Rams TP1

this beautiful object by 50’s designer dieter rams is really something to look at. the record player was a portable 45rpm braun named TP1 and designed in 1959 for mass distribution. they simply don’t make them that well. great gift for a hobbiest record lover. by dd

even better hermes – special edition sugimoto

the recent collaboration between hermes and japanese artist hiroshi sugimoto has resulted in objects of light, objects of desire, and objects of nothing and anything. color and light have always been a muse for me, so i truly enjoy mr. sugimoto’s articulation of his work. please watch the vid here.

ps. dd should have gotten one of these for his personal anniversary, i would have loved to…it’s the thought, right?  by kl
