avedon at the gagosian

this fantastic exhibit, which runs through july at the gagosian gallery, features andy warhol and his factory kids, the chicago seven, the mission council of the vietnam war, and my personal favorite—the one and only allen ginsberg.  the photos of ginsberg range from above to more personal shots of his family.  the juxtaposition of subjects in this exhibit is mind-boggling; it ranges from the radical to the politically erect.  standing in the center of the gallery amidst a whirlwind of the 1960’s, this is a must-see for anyone with half a mind. by sv

shop til you…

this photograph makes me dizzy.  the kind of dizzy where your esophagus is numb and you can feel a molecular clusterfuck underneath your own skin.  i want to run and destroy the perfectly aligned carts; yet, thrive in their linear construction at the same time.  jason lucas, thank you for the cerebral wake-up call!  by sv

avedon at gagosian

lately, the gagosian galleries presented back to back shows that very few museum could put up. the new avedon exhibition is one of them, the huge prints of the warhol factory and the ginsberg crew are fantastic. some prints are more expected but always nice to see. makes you realize how the guy was ahead… and still is. a must see. by pp.
