bruno dayan and the elephant paname
if you happen to visit paris soon, drop by elephant paname, an old napoleon III mansion left abandoned for years. it was recently renovated and turned into a 500 sqm multidisciplinary arts center that offers six dance studios, a gallery space, a music scene as well as a gastronomic restaurant… the gallery recently hosted fashion photographer bruno dayan‘s show “a corps perdu”, with a selection of never before seen personal work. the dreamy and sensual shots fit perfectly with the baroque, forgotten space… keep an eye out, bruno dayan’s exhibition just ended at elephant paname in paris, and might be shown soon in new york… by lil

“not everything that counts can be counted, and not everything that can be counted counts”
– albert einstein
this evening involved a lovely meandering conversation, that at various points mentioned stories of judgement from one person to another. i contributed at one point with a comment not properly concluded, and now since i am up and in the habit of finishing things, i may as well. the comment began with a statement about simplicity of character and accidentally ended on some sarcasm comparing simplicity to lack of intellect, but was meant to elaborate into the fact that although simplicity is generally viewed as a fault, it is in fact a virtuous characteristic. to have true clarity and selflessness creates a beautiful simplicity of character that is difficult to achieve in our selfish, modern lives. the people i most admire have a haze of information and truths, untruths, attitudes and invading energies swirling about them; yet they remain insightful, selfless and clear. in fact, i believe keeping it simple can be one of the most complicated skills to master. by kl

Canadian Astronaut tweets from space: what a space oddity
this clip has only been seen by 12 million people, and i wasn’t one of them until now, but i love it. i wish i was there, up there, if not then under the sea… canadian astronaut, chris hadfield, was up there and he has been tweeting everything from how to make a sandwich in space to pictures of earth from strait of dover to london-town. this is his farewell piece on his way back to earth, a cover of bowie’s space oddity in zero g. i wonder what i would have done if i was up there… probably a version of planet claire with pp! by dd
Serge Gainsbourg doing Jane Birkin
“shit serge, this cheap ass helmet sucks, can’t you do another shitty song with bardot moaning and buy me a decent helmet like hilary rhoda? i’m sick of your bohemian artist life. i’m seriously considering dumping your ass for eric or that other chap john barry.” by dd + ars
